Important: We require at least 6 weeks notice before you travel. Not all travel vaccines are available on the NHS at Whiteacres and you may need to consult a private travel clinic.
Why do I have to give 6 weeks notice?
- Some vaccines need to be ordered. We do not hold stock of all travel vaccines.
- Depending on the location where you are going, some vaccines need to be administered weeks ahead of your holiday to ensure immunity and effectiveness.
- Some vaccines require several doses prior your holiday over 3 or 4 week period to ensure immunity and effectiveness.
After submitting we will be in touch withn 7 days to explain the next steps. If you have not heard back from us after 7 days please contact the surgery.
Start preparing for your trip at least six weeks before you go.
At our Surgery, we do not provide a private clinic for travel vaccinations. For private travel services, you may wish to consider

Some travel vaccinations are part of our core offering and these are:
Cholera
A course of immunisation is to be offered to persons travelling —
- to an area where they may risk exposure to infections as a consequence of being in that area; or
- to the country where it is a condition of entry to that country that persons have been immunised
- Hepatitis A
A course of immunisation is to be offered to persons travelling to areas where the degree of exposure to infections is believed to be high
Persons who may be at a higher risk of infection include those who —
- intend to reside in an area for at least three months and may be exposed to Hepatitis A during that period; or
- (if exposed to Hepatitis A, may be less resistant to infection because of a pre-existing disease or condition or who are at risk of developing medical complications from exposure
Poliomyelitis (or Polio)
A course of immunisation (using an age appropriate combine vaccine) is to be offered to persons travelling —
- to an area where they may risk exposure to infection as a consequence of being in that area; or
- to a country where it is a condition of entry to that country that persons have been immunised
Typhoid
A course of typhoid vaccine is to be offered to persons travelling —
- to an area where they may risk exposure to infection as a consequence of being in that area; or
- to a country where it is a condition of entry to that country that persons have been immunised.
Please be aware that some vaccinations are provided as multiple doses over weeks instead of a single dose.
Please complete a pre-travel questionnaire available from reception. Please complete a form for each person travelling. Our nurses will then review your notes and contact you directly with any vaccinations you may need are that we are able to provide.
A majority of the requested vaccines have to be pre-ordered in advance, which is why we ask you to prepare at least six weeks before you go. This gives us time to order the required vaccines, organise a 2nd appointment with you to receive the vaccines, and then some extra time for the vaccine to work. Your second appointment to receive the vaccine needs to be at least 2 weeks before you travel.
Please note, we can only administer vaccines that are advised by our nursing team. This will all be discussed in your appointment, as the team will need to discuss your travel arrangements including which countries and areas within those countries that you plan on travelling to.
