How to get your results
Please note, is it your responsibility to check your results and make any necessary follow-up appointments based on your GP’s advice. The practice has a strict policy regarding confidentiality and data protection, and we will only release test results to the person to whom they relate unless that person has given prior permission for the release of this data or they are not capable of understanding the results.
Specimens
If you are asked to bring in any specimens for testing, please ensure that they arrive before 11.30am to ensure they can be sent to the hospital. The Laboratory that looks at your sample may review all screening records, including your sample, as part of their aim to offer a quality service and to increase the expertise of specialist staff. This means that staff who work elsewhere in the health service will need to see your records.
By the NHS App
Most test results are now available on the NHS App, as well as a whole host of other information and advice. The NHS app can also be used from your browser on a desktop or laptop computer. Find out more information about the NHS App.
By Phone
Please call the Surgery to obtain a test result from reception (please call after 11AM when lines are less busy). Most test results, including blood and urine, take between 3 to 7 working days to come back to the Surgery. Some x-ray results take between 2 to 3 weeks to be processed.
Sometimes the Doctor will suggest that you make an appointment to be given the result or that they need to speak to you directly. The receptionists will advise you if this is necessary. You can only be given your result once one of the doctors has seen it.
