Giving another person access to your GP record on the NHS App.
Can I give access to my online medical records to another person?
This is called Proxy Access and is when patients choose to give another person access to their online GP record. This is usually a family member, next of kin or a carer.
An example is a parent for a child or husband and wife. Usually, the request is made as it makes it easier for the person requesting access to, order medication, book appointments or even care for the other person.
Because giving proxy access allows the person making the request, to access the GP record of another patient, we will need the consent of the patient whose records are being accessed.
If you wish to request proxy access or give access to another individual, there are few rules.
1. You must both be patients at the same surgery.
2. A proxy access form must be completed in the surgery, both parties should be present and photo ID is required. These forms are only available from the surgery.
Because we understand that not everyone can attend the surgery due to illness or disability, please contact the surgery for advice.
