Sometimes it's confusing if a text or email is legitimate and from the surgery. As requested by the Patient Participation Group, we have created an area on our website to help patients stay safe on their phones and online from scam emails, texts and calls.
Always avoid sending or sharing personal information like your:
- Full name
- Date of birth
- Full address
- NHS number
- National insurance number
- Bank details
- Financial Payments
Especially with unexpected calls, texts or emails. If in doubt do not provide any information and hang up if it is a call. If the call is in regard to a medical query or concern call the surgery on 01684 577029.
For more information upon steps that you can do to keep yourself safe, you can find useful resources on the links below:
Bear in mind that the surgery will contact you around your birth month for any annual medical reviews, to arrange further medical appointments, relay medical information or results, as requested by the doctors.
Alternatively, patients can set up the NHS app and request to see their medical records through the triage form.
The NHS App helps you to get well, stay well and manage your health care. Its a simple and secure way to:
- order repeat prescriptions
- find NHS services
- view your GP health record
- get reminders and messages
- and much more …
Whiteacres uses a platform called Accurx to send texts and links for the triage form, these texts and links are legitimate.
We may share helpful information via text, such as:
-
Advice leaflets or service information and updates (with links).
-
Feedback requests with links.
-
Requests to update details like smoking status or ethnicity (via a secure link).
-
Appointment booking links.
-
Requests for photos related to a condition you’ve already discussed with us.

The surgery uses a further platform called Abtrace to help us identify patients who need annual reviews or important monitoring. The text comes up as GPsurgery.recall@nhs.net and is a legitimate text.
Whiteacres are in the process of trying to obtain a list of third party platforms that the NHS services in the county utilises from the Primary Care Network (PCN). We will update the website as soon as we have news upon this.
